"After working full time for the past 33 years designing product for other people, I wanted to use my creativity to do something for myself. Fabricating metal into beautiful wearable art gives my design skill a new avenue and gives me control of my talent.

I have traveled extensively and am inspired by new cultures and their natural environment. Almost every trip gives me a new direction for my jewelry. The Cayman Islands has the most beautiful coral in the world. Santorini has the best lava rock and Belgium has some of the most beautiful wood specimens. All of these natural items are a source of inspiration for beautiful jewelry.

My designs are linked to the natural environment in which we live. There is no better source for design in my opinion than nature."

Kathryn Carlyle works in three very different and diverse mediums: painting, collage, and metal fabrication. Though the artist makes the process look so easy; behind the apparent spontaneity is careful and ceaseless experimentation.

By working in these three areas, Kathryn has been able to create some incredible designs with techniques that overlap from each medium.

Although Kathryn Carlyle's primary focus and is her jewelry designs, she is also well recognized for her amazing paintings.
